Insurance and certificate requirements

A Certificate of Insurance is required no less than 60 business days before the event. MSMU must be named as additional insured. Commercial General Liability coverage must be $3,000,000 aggregate and $1,000,000 per occurrence, from an insurer rated A.M. Best A- or higher, with 30 business days’ cancellation notice. The requirement cannot be waived.

Catering

Bon Appetit is the preferred caterer. Outside caterers are permitted, but a service fee applies and the caterer must carry commercial general liability insurance. Some spaces may restrict food and beverage.

Alcohol service

Alcohol must be served by a licensed vendor, with no self-service. It must be delivered to campus beforehand and removed afterward. Seven business days’ advance notice and liquor liability insurance are required.

Facility usage fee

External renters pay a facility usage fee in advance, plus labor and equipment costs.

Security

Campus Security determines whether additional officers are required. The renter covers those costs.

Setup and breakdown

Setup or breakdown after 4 p.m. on weekdays or on weekends may incur overtime charges.

Campus rules

Both campuses are smoke-free. Open flames and candles are not permitted. Decorations must be free-standing or use blue tape only.
